YOUR ROOF REPLACEMENT ESTIMATE

A starting point
for your new roof.

BUILDING OUTLINE · EAVE ALLOWANCE · ROOF SLOPE

Your estimate includes roofing materials, installation, tear-off, disposal, and a permit allowance.

The app uses Google Solar Building Insights roof geometry when available. If Google has no building coverage, it can use a clearly labeled public-footprint fallback. Every result still requires an inspection.

Preliminary estimate. Subject to inspection.
Taxes and concealed damage are excluded.
HOW YOUR ROOF SIZE IS ESTIMATED

Use the best available roof geometry, then price it with the contractor’s numbers.

The preferred measurement source is Google Solar API Building Insights. The app does not request Solar API Data Layers. If Building Insights has no building coverage, the app can fall back to a public building outline and a verified roof-slope assumption.

01

Locate the correct property

The entered street address is geocoded to latitude and longitude. The homeowner verifies the map location before a roof measurement is requested.

02

Use Google roof geometry

When available, Google Solar Building Insights provides roof area that already accounts for roof tilt plus roof-segment pitch information. The app uses Building Insights—not the heavier Data Layers endpoint.

Fall back clearly when needed

If Google Solar has no building at that location, the fallback uses a public building footprint, an 8% eave allowance, and the selected pitch. The result is labeled as a fallback and uses a wider estimate range.

THE RULE

Google Building Insights first. Public-footprint math only when Google has no usable building result.

All measurements are preliminary. Roof additions, detached structures, concealed conditions, decking, flashing, access, and local requirements must be verified by the contractor before final pricing or material ordering.
